Traditional Psychotherapy is a process primarily focused on helping someone heal from hurts and learn better ways to deal with the challenges that are faced in life. Most psychotherapy is focused on problem solving and is goal oriented.
Some interventions that I may use are Family Systems Therapy, Family/Marital Therapy, Control Mastery Therapy, and Dialectical Behavior Therapy in order to help you heal from the challenges you are experiencing.
In Family Systems and Family/Marital therapy I will work with families and couples as I view change in terms of the systems of interaction between family members. In Control Mastery Therapy I will understand any unconscious plans to solve some life challenges and help you develop valid, positive beliefs about yourself and others that will help you live an effective and satisfying life. Generally, there is no harm in receiving therapy, even if you feel like you wouldn’t benefit from it. The use of psychotherapy can be very supportive when dealing with life, relationship, and/or challenges surrounding substance abuse. A psychotherapist will look at where and when the onset of challenges started in your life and help you to figure out ways to help make changes in your life.
I will make sure you feel seen, heard, and appreciated as a unique individual in all of your richness and complexity. While I will help you understand the nature and origins of your challenges, I will also help you see and use all of your strengths and talents toward making the life you want. Let me join you in the journey that is your life.
